MARIGNY

Faubourg Maringy: Boundaries: North Rampart Street and St. Claude Avenue to the north, Press Street to the east, the Mississippi River to the south, and Esplanade Avenue to the west. This neighborhood was developed by Bernard de Marigny in the early 19th century. It is known as the first "suburb" of the French Quarter. The architecture borrows heavily from the colonial French and Spanish and has elements of the Caribbean.
